Exploring Maryland's Cycling Trails

Discovering Hidden Gems

As a cyclist, I'm always on the lookout for new trails to explore. And let me tell you, Maryland has some incredible routes that are off the beaten path. From the scenic views of the Chesapeake Bay to the rolling hills of the Appalachian Mountains, there's no shortage of breathtaking scenery to take in.

One of my favorite discoveries was the trail at Patuxent Research Refuge. This 8-mile loop takes you through a variety of landscapes, from forests to wetlands, and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Challenging Routes for Experienced Riders

As much as I love exploring new trails, I also appreciate a good challenge. And let me tell you, Maryland has some routes that will put your skills to the test.

Take, for example, the trail at C&O Canal Towpath. This 184-mile route is perfect for experienced riders looking for a long, grueling ride with plenty of hills and obstacles to navigate.

Family-Friendly Rides for All Skill Levels

Of course, not everyone is looking for a challenge. And that's okay! Maryland has plenty of routes that are perfect for families or beginners.

One of my favorite family-friendly rides is the trail at Lake Artemesia. This 4-mile loop takes you through a beautiful park with plenty of scenic views and picnic areas.
